a faster firefox!!!
Here is another way to increase your speed using THE number 1 Internet browser!!!
1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:
network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.
2. Alter the entries as follows:
Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.
3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.
If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!
Don't Blame Me If It Screws You Up! It's Never Happened!!

I like Internet Explorer too (with SP2, of course). It's just more familiar to me, and seems to load a hell of a lot faster for me than Firefox does.
Don't get me wrong, I do like Firefox... It just runs like crap for me, I don't know why. Ah well.

Firefox has been found better cuz it just automaticly blocks most pop ups which IE does not.
Technically if your IE is configured correctly it works slightly better than Firefox, there isn't that much difference though.
the biggest differences are:
- IE has a much faster refresh rate as in, if you upload things to a server, IE will be able to see them sooner than Firefox
- With webdesign you have to take in count that some things work in IE and don't work in Firefox and likewise.

Firefox is awesome--but you have to think/speak in Russian. Other than that--Firefox is the ultimate fighter!.
PS: This is the offtopic forum right?

Actually, if you have Windows XP with Service Pack 2 it does block popups automatically. You can even set it to block none, all, or to block intelligently (which it actually does). It will even block nasty scripts, ActiveX programs, and other virus/spyware types of garbage, again, at a level which suits you.

Actually, it's still pretty far off becoming 'THE number 1 Internet browser' if current usage figures are anything to go by. It's getting there, though.

It's been "the number one Internet browser" for a long time. Usage figures have got nothing to do with it. Are ****roaches "number one" just because they're vastly more numerous than we are? I don't think so.

the only problem with that nice way to speed up your firefox is that it isn't exactly considered a work friendly modification. Think of multiple computers all piping from their proxy at once. It can get to be a pain.

Firefox doesn't load any slower than Internet Explorer for me. Well, it might do, but the time difference is so insignificantly tiny that my pitiful human eyes and brain can't even register it.
My problem with Firefox is that it seems to actually load websites and images a lot slower for me than Internet Explorer does, I have no idea why. Firefox is a fine browser, but as long as Internet Explorer with XP SP2 works faster for me (including all the nice pop-up blocking, spyware blocking, script blocking, and in the next version tabbed browsing) it'll be my preference.

Actually, Internet Cockroaches are number one not just on sheer volume... it's also because they can outlast a nuclear winter.

I used to use Firefox, but it stopped liking the imagepack on a web-based game I play so I ditched it for Avant Browser. It's basically I.E. in a new shell, with tabbed browsing and its own pop-up blocker.
Then we found a cure for the imagepack problem, but it wasn't so good. It took like five billion years to refresh a page on the game so Avant is still my number one.
